My name is Steven Ryan Caprio. I am a father. And I am… by necessity, by choice, and by love… a fool time dad.
This site exists because silence is not an option. What you will find here is a documented, transparent, and honest account of an ongoing legal journey spanning multiple systems, multiple agencies, and multiple years. almost two decades to be exact. Family law. Juvenile dependency. Federal civil rights litigation. The County of San Bernardino, its agencies, its courts, its state actors, and the private parties whose decisions have shaped this story.
This is not a place for outrage. It is a place for the record.
Every filing. Every order. Every date. Every discrepancy. Preserved here in plain sight, for anyone who wants to see it… because transparency is its own form of accountability, and the truth does not require embellishment to be powerful.
Why make this public?
Because I am not the first parent to walk this road, and I will not be the last. The family court and child welfare systems in this country affect hundreds of thousands of families every year. Most of those parents are navigating alone… without counsel, without resources, and without anyone telling them that constitutional protections exist, that federal remedies are available, and that the record matters more than almost anything else.
If even one parent finds something here that helps them understand their rights, ask the right question, file the right document, or simply feel less alone in what can be an isolating and dehumanizing process… then this site has done something worth doing.
What this site is
A public record. A running log of proceedings, filings, correspondence, and outcomes across all active and related matters. A resource for parents, advocates, and anyone with an interest in how these systems operate and how they can be held accountable.
